  • What is your average class size?

The average number of students in a classroom, K4-12th, is 13. This is significantly lower than both the state and national average, and we are committed to maintaining low class sizes to create the best atmosphere for learning.
  • What is your student/teacher ratio?

At Mingo Valley Christian, we have one faculty member for every 10 students. This creates an environment where our students’ individual gifts can be nurtured and their challenges can be addressed by teachers who know them and care for them personally.
  • How big is your school?

We have 338 students school wide--that's 142 students in Lower School (PreK-5th grade) and 196 students in Upper School (6th-12th).
  • Do you offer sports? What about the arts? What about other extracurricular activities?

Don't let our relatively small size fool you--Mingo Valley students have access to a robust athletic program consisting of multiple sports, a rich music/art/theatre program, and numerous extracurricular opportunities.
  • Do you offer scholarships?

We offer limited tuition assistance that is determined through a third-party qualifying process. If you are interested in applying, you may submit an application here
  • Will it be easy for my child(ren) to meet new friends and fit in?

It is a priority to us that our school culture is friendly and welcoming. We hear all the time from new families who tell us how quickly they felt enfolded into the MVC community. Quite often, students who visit for a shadowing day ask their parents if they can simply stay! We work hard to cultivate a rich network of relationships among our students, teachers, and families—read more about how we build community here.
  • What is your average ACT score?

25.8. The national average is 20.8, and the state average is 19.7. You can see a full breakdown of ACT composite scores for the whole state of Oklahoma here.
  • When was Mingo Valley Christian founded?

Mingo Valley Christian is in our 41st year of serving Tulsa-area students and families. We were founded in 1976 with only ten students—over forty years later, we enjoy a solid heritage of godly leaders and a deeply committed faculty who have worked tirelessly to build Mingo Valley Christian into the school it is today. Our desire is to take the very best of what we have accomplished in our first 40 years and use it to be even better in our next 40!
  • How long is your school day?

School begins at 8 am. For Lower School (PreK-5th), school is dismissed at 3 pm. To ease traffic flow, we dismiss Upper School (6th-12th) five minutes later, at 3:05 pm.
  • When is the deadline for enrollment?

Mingo Valley Christian accepts new students at most points in the school year, and we are currently accepting applications. To provide the best educational experience for our students, class sizes are limited, and many classes currently closed or have only one or two spots left. If you are interested in enrolling your student, we recommend you contact us as soon as possible. For more information about our admissions process, please click here. • What support do you offer students with learning disabilities?

We welcome the opportunity to speak with parents personally about the individual needs of their children. At Mingo Valley Christian, we count success in our educational efforts as pursuing the fullness of God’s created intent for each student here. We care a great deal about personalized learning, and the uniqueness of each child. Please contact us and tell us more about your child!

Many educational needs are supported directly in the classroom, while others are addressed through pull-out services and additional learning support services. We are clear that there are some special educational needs for which our school is not the optimal environment for student success, but this is not where we begin in our response to the needs of any individual child.
  • Do your students wear uniforms?

Our students follow a dress code, and you can read about it here.
  • How many open spots do you have?

Our class sizes are capped at the size that gives our students the very best learning environment. When that cap is reached, we build waiting pools for prospective students. For this school year, we have a few classes that are already filled to capacity, with many other classes having only one or two slots left. If you are interested in enrolling your child, we recommend you contact us as soon as possible.
  • Are there opportunities for parents to get involved?

Absolutely! The culture at Mingo Valley Christian is one of hearty parent involvement in the day-to-day life of the school. Individual teachers offer opportunities for parents to be involved in the classroom, and there are multiple volunteer jobs beyond the classroom as well: sports coaching, wiping down lunch tables, theatre costume sewing, monitoring recess with staff members, cutting out bulletin board designs, driving on field trips, and so much more. We believe there is real value in our students knowing their parents are engaged with and committed to the work that goes on at their school.
  • Do you offer additional childcare before and after the school day?

Yes. Our well-staffed before-school care program opens at 7:15 am and students are dismissed from there directly to their classrooms at the start of the day. After-school care is available immediately after school until 5:30 pm. We charge $.12/minute per child for this service.
  • How can I communicate with my child's teacher and stay infomed about his or her grades and assignments?

You are always encouraged to reach out to your child’s teacher with questions, and you’ll be given his or her contact information at the start of the year. In addition, Mingo Valley Christian has a robust school information management system called MyMVC that provides up-to-the minute access to your child’s grades, attendance, and assignments. Parents are able to view detailed calendars, directories, resource boards, and other useful tools via their MyMVC portal. We hear frequent feedback from our parents and students that this tool is invaluable to them in managing their school life.

We also utilize Remind, a school texting service that makes communication quick and easy. You'll get more information about this system when you enroll.
  • When is your weekly chapel service?

Lower School chapel is held each Wednesday morning, and Middle/Upper School chapel is each Thursday morning. Parents are welcome to attend.
  • What types of lunch do you serve and how much does it cost?

Our kitchen prepares a healthy school lunch for our students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we have contracted with various local restaurants to cater food in to our campus. The cost is $5.50 for a Lower School (PreK-5th) lunch and $6.50 for a Middle/Upper School (6th-12th) lunch. Students are always welcome to bring a lunch from home, and many choose this option.
