SPIRIT WEEK is February 25-March 1!

For over twenty years, Mingo Valley Christian has partnered with  John 3:16 Mission to stock their pantries. For several years, MVC has been John 3:16’s largest single food donor. Last year during Spirit Week, our students brought 16,132 pounds of food! For a look at some past news coverage of this event, click here.

If you’re new to Mingo Valley, here’s how it works:

SECONDARY

Secondary students get in on the fun as well! Grades compete against each other to see which grade can bring the most food for John 3:16.

Students are encouraged to bring food donations each day—see food request list below. Please clearly mark your donations with your grade! Before school, students should bring their food donations to the auditorium and look for their grade’s food drop-off spot. Volunteers will weigh the food donations for each team, and they’re given points accordingly.

On Tuesday of that week (Feb. 26), secondary students will have their Jump Out Day, going out in the Tulsa community to serve in many ministries and non-profits, including several affiliated with John 3:16.

Sorry, but secondary students do NOT dress up for each theme day!

Students will attend special Spirit Week assemblies on Monday and Friday afternoons.

At Friday’s assembly, the winning grade is announced—the winning grade gets a fun afternoon field trip (location TBD), and each class member gets a gift card to Raising Cane’s!

ELEMENTARY

Students are divided into nine teams of varying ages (siblings are on the same team). Each team has 2-3 5th grade leaders. Kids will be told their team numbers on Friday, February 22 and will come home with a form that explains the week in detail.

Students are encouraged to bring food donations each day—see food request list below. Please clearly mark your donations with your team number! Fifth graders will come out to the car line to pick up your donations and deliver them to your team’s spot in the main building foyer. Volunteers will weigh the food donations for each team, and they’re given points accordingly.

Students may also earn points for their team by doing daily scripture reading prayer times with their whole family for John 3:16 (more information on this will come home on the handout on February 22).

Additionally, just for fun, elementary students are encouraged to dress up each day according to the days’ theme (see list below).

Every afternoon of that week, we’ll have a special assembly where students will meet with their teams and hear the points tally. We’ll sing fun songs together, and on Monday and Friday, we’ll have special speakers from John 3:16.

The winning team gets a field trip to SkyZone!
