Senior Jordyn Blackburn Signs Letter of Intent with ORU

Mingo Valley Christian senior Jordyn Blackburn has signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Blackburn is receiving an athletic scholarship, stacked with an academic scholarship. Starting her journey at the age of five, Blackburn played soccer for Metro Tulsa Soccer Club. At the age of nine, she quickly transitioned her play to competitive soccer with Blitz United Soccer Club, then finishing her last seven years at Tulsa Soccer Club. Of those seven years, the last five were in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL Texas Conference). Blackburn is a three-time Oklahoma Soccer Association (club) and Heartland Christian Athletic association (school) state champion. She is also a two-time ECNL Champions League Tournament attendee. She also received a 2019 Tulsa World All Metro honorable mention title.
Blackburn says her 14 years as a student at Mingo Valley “has provided me with a firm foundation in Christ and has taught me leadership qualities that I can use while I am playing at ORU.” Jordyn’s excellence is not only on the soccer field. Her trainer Bobby Behrens says that “Jordyn is a unique kid in that she’s clearly gifted to play soccer. What’s difficult for many people [to grasp is that] she picks [things] up quickly and effortlessly. Beyond her being gifted is her drive to continue to get better at what she’s already good at. Nobody knows how many hours she has put into being great, likely not even her. However, she pushes herself to new levels constantly without excuse or reserve. She’s a wonderful student of the game that will always find a way to be successful. I believe that translates to every area of her life which is how she has a high GPA, plays multiple sports, and is involved with her church. Everything that has her name attached to it will be great.”

Blackburn is the daughter of Sam and Monica Blackburn of Tulsa.
