Friday Emails

We encourage you check your emails each Friday for your weekly Friday email. We'll keep recent versions here, if you need a reminder!

June 2018

Hi, families! We hope you’re enjoying every minute of your summer, but may we grab your attention for a few quick announcements?

Please come pick up your report cards in the front office. Summer office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9-2, and Friday 9 to noon.

The construction of our new music classroom is nearly done, and it looks fantastic! Eagle Commons is getting spruced up too, with a coat of new paint and some reorganization. We would love to put in new vinyl wood-plank flooring (to replace that decades-old carpet!), which would match the flooring in the rest of the main building. The flooring is not in our budget, however--we need donations from our families to pull off this much-needed change. Can you help us? Click here to make a gift--and thank you!

We are in the process of loading next year’s calendar events into our school calendar on the website. Remember that you can always find it by visiting, then clicking MVC PARENTS in the top menu bar, then choosing the option for CALENDAR (you’ll need to click forward to August). That first week of school is already loaded with lots of events, so please take a look! When you click on any calendar item, it will take you a page with full details.

Our faculty and staff are already at school working and preparing for your kids next year, and we have some volunteer needs we hope you can help us fill (grandparents are welcome, so spread the word!). Please always check in at the front office upon arrival.

WORKROOM VOLUNTEERS: Come support our teachers in a very tangible way by helping prepare various books, curriculum and supplies for the coming year.  Coordinate with your friends and drop by during office hours. Middle school and high school students are welcome.  You may bring younger children, but they will need to stay with you in the workroom. This is an ongoing need throughout summer office hours (Monday through Thursday, 9-2, and Friday 9 to noon.) Please call the main office at 918-294-0404 to confirm work is available before you come. Contact Carol Cherry with any questions.

MUSIC ROOM MOVERS: We need 5-10 volunteers to move the music room on Saturday, June 30th at 9:00 a.m. Older secondary students may earn service hours for this work, but please--only older students who are strong enough to help move furniture and heavy boxes! Please email Cindy Foster if you can help.

KITCHEN PAINTERS: We are repainting the school kitchen Saturday, July 7th at 9:00 a.m, and we need 4-5 experienced painters (adults only) who can move appliances and get in small spaces. Please email Cindy Foster if you can help.

Secondary parents/students (not applicable to new students): We will be removing all parents and students from existing Remind text threads for last year’s individual secondary classes (not your overall grade-level class such as @MVC19, but academic classes such as @MVCphysics). You will have an opportunity to join next year’s classes when school starts.

The school supply lists are on the website. Visit, click MVC PARENTS in the top menu bar, then click RESOURCES AND LINKS. Please note we made updates this week to the 6th and 8th grade lists, so if you had already shopped for those classes, please double-check the list.

TODAY is the late registration deadline for the July 14th ACT.  Visit to register.  Keep in mind that you should plan for your high school student to take the ACT AT LEAST 3 times in order to improve their scores and earn the maximum amount of college scholarships.  If your rising junior or senior has not yet taken the ACT, now is the time to register! For information on Tulsa-area ACT and PSAT test preparation classes, visit this website.

Our Community Builders are organizing class get-togethers--if you haven't heard from yours, please respond to this email and let us know, and we'll get you in touch with them.

We're preparing for a GREAT YEAR ahead, and we can't wait for you all to meet the wonderful new folks who are joining our MVC family. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we'll be in touch again in a few weeks.

The SUMMER edition!

HAPPY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! We wish all of you plenty of fun and sun and rest this summer. Take some interesting pictures this summer in your MVC spirit wear--traveling, swimming, hiking whatever!--and use the hashtag #MVCsummer when you post on social media. We’ll share some of the highlights on the school Facebook page. We’ll be in touch over the summer a few times with updates and news about next year, so please keep an eye out for that communication.

TerraNova test results were sent home with your elementary students on Tuesday or mailed home to your secondary students this week. Pages 6-10 of this booklet will give you detailed information about interpreting your student’s score report.  For questions concerning the score report or if you did not receive your student’s test results, please email your student’s teacher (elementary) or Mrs. Morton (secondary).

Final report cards and transcripts will be available for pickup in the front office on June 8, assuming all your financial obligations have been met.

Summer office hours are (Mondays through Thursdays 9 am-2 pm, and Fridays 9 am-noon.

He continues to bring wonderful new families to our school, and you’ll have a chance to meet them at your summer class get-togethers--help us welcome them warmly to the MVC community!

We’ll see you in August, and remember your #MVCsummer hashtag when you’re wearing your MVC gear doing your summer adventures!

Week of May 14-18

You may have heard, but this will be the last year we’ll have Diane Aniol, Nathan Kelley, and Joe Madden with us--it’s a loss for us, but we’re excited for them in their next chapters! Join us for a send-off reception on Wednesday, May 16, from 3 to 4 pm in the foyer.

Hopefully you read Dr. Chitwood’s email two weeks ago about the new expansion projects happening over the summer. We will also expand some security measures throughout the campus. We will redirect some budget monies to accomplish part of these improvements and would like to extend them further. We also have appearance improvements we'd like to be making. We're building the music room in Eagle Commons. We would love to also replace the flooring in the Commons if funds are available. Finally, we'll be making some parking lot repairs over the summer. You can see that several projects will go forward with money we redirect from other purposes. You can also see that further improvements can be made as gifts make it possible. Can you help us with this? Click here to make a tax-deductible contribution to this effort, or respond to this email if you’d like to set up a time to talk with Dr. Chitwood about helping fund our new security measures or Eagle Commons renovations in a meaningful way.
