About
MVCS - History
The history of Mingo Valley Christian School (MVCS) is the story
of men and women who were committed to providing a meaningful Christian
educational alternative to families in the Tulsa area. The current
enrollment reflects the non-denominational character of the school
with over 70 different churches represented.
Opening its doors in 1976 with only 10 students, Mingo Valley Christian
School has grown today to over 275 students from kindergarten through
high school. In 1999, we outgrew our current facility at 9123 East
22 nd Place and rented an additional facility (1402 South Memorial)
to house secondary students.
In 1983, MVCS joined the Association of Christian Schools International
(ACSI) and is currently working on receiving accreditation. Our new
facility will include a designated library (required for accreditation)
to house our over 4,000 books.
From the beginning, character development has been a high priority
of MVCS. Today, MVCS is a place where students are recognized for
who they are as well as for what they do. The real measure of success
is seen in the lives of our students – mannered, active members of
their school community that genuinely care about one another and
about their relationship with God. Many of our former students have
returned as parents who have chosen MVCS for their children's education,
and three of our alumni are currently on our teaching staff.
Now, the school is operating both facilities at capacity with over
275 students, while successfully managing an annual budget in excess
of $800,000. In an effort to consolidate campuses, to continue steady
growth, and to satisfy the need for more classroom and library space,
the school has purchased a larger facility at 8720 East 61 st Street,
currently Tulsa Bible Church.
Mingo Valley Christian School remains committed to improving and
growing. A strong administration, a visionary board, and a competent
team of faculty and staff work together to achieve the school's mission
statement: Serving God in partnership with parents to build faith,
knowledge and character in the hearts and minds of our students.
