About
MVCS - History
The history of Mingo Valley Christian School (MVCS) is the story of men and women who were committed to providing a meaningful Christian educational alternative to families in the Tulsa area.
From the beginning, character development has been a high priority of MVCS. Today, MVCS is a place where students are recognized for who they are as well as for what they do. The real measure of success is seen in the lives of our students – mannered, active members of their school community who genuinely care about one another and about their relationship with God. Many of our former students have returned as parents who have chosen MVCS for their own children’s education, and several of our alumni are currently on our teaching staff.
Opening its doors in 1976 with only 10 students, Mingo Valley Christian School now enrolls students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. In 1999, we outgrew our facility at 9123 East 22nd Place and rented an additional facility (1402 South Memorial) to house secondary students.
As a ministry of Memorial Bible Church, MVCS consolidated its campuses in 2003 by purchasing and relocating to our current facility at 8720 East 61st Street. With an enrollment of more than 275 students MVCS successfully manages an annual budget in excess of $1,000,000.
In 1983, MVCS joined the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). In 2003 we were officially accredited through both ACSI and North Central Association Commission on Accreditation (NCA). We actively strive to maintain our accreditation through regular evaluations by these organizations.
Today our students are receiving a quality education, preparing them not just for academic advancement beyond high school, but for productive, faithful lives. Mingo Valley Christian School remains committed to improving and growing. A strong administration, a visionary board, and a competent team of faculty and staff work together to achieve the school’s mission statement: Serving God in partnership with parents to build faith, knowledge and character in the hearts and minds of our students.
